The hour when Mother naps

I am wondering how all the mothers out there deal with sleep deprivation.

After 3 kids in 6 years, the nights when I never had to wake up to nurse a child, or to comfort a sick little person, or to change a diaper, or just being unable to sleep for hours on end because of pregnancy discomfort – those nights are all a hazy reality.

I have had interrupted sleep for the past 6 years. I suppose this is normal?

At any rate, what keeps me functioning a little better is probably my afternoon nap. 30 minutes is great, an hour is something like heaven.

Apart from sheer necessity for my survival, I absolutely love being able to snooze with 16 month old Piglet. Lamb naps in his bed against the wall but Puppy, well, Puppy – now that’s a different story.

I do not know for certain what exactly happens in the one hour in which the rest of us lie blissfully unconscious. I wouldn’t know 10 things! I know she reads. A lot, judging from the pile of stuff on her bed.

She’s been writing too. A lot, judging from these one-word notes.

On my bed …

On her bed …

On the bookshelf …

On the wall …

On the chest of drawers …

On my wardrobe …

She said she had planned to colour them all in different shades before I woke up. Amusing, no?

I asked her why she did it. Her answer: “Because I love you. Love is nice.”

Ordinarily I would have made her clean up.

This time? I left those notes there for a couple of days.

..

Linking up with Stasha and Stacey.

aw, that’s very sweet. my 5 year old daughter leaves little scribbled notes and drawings everywhere too. it kind of drives me crazy…..but it kinda melts my heart too. that’s pretty much parenthood in a nutshell.

That is so sweet! I miss nap time. I am past the point of convincing my children to leave me be for an hour. Sometimes, I slip in a half hour nap, but mostly I’m just permanently drowsy! Thanks for linking up!

That is the cutest handwritten message ever, bless her. I nap on Monday morning or Tuesday morning for a couple hours once a week when the rest of the family out with their routine, its enough to recharge my battery for the whole week πŸ™‚

What sweet notes. I have sometimes gotten naps when I knew the kids were up to some mischief, but I decided that the rest was worth having to deal with whatever it was later. A lot of times, it ended up things like yours did.

Thanks for hosting a fun, versatile meme. I love participating – whenever I have the time to write, that is! Not sleep …. πŸ˜‰

Ditto, mother-in-arms! Sometimes sleep comes first before even anticipated mayhem. It’s nice when I awaken to sweetness like this and no BIG mess happens.

LOVE must be her favourite word, or her favourite thing. How blessed you are to have this! When she grows older and reads this post, I’m sure she will smile from ear to ear… πŸ™‚

I’m mostly happy when she lets me nap. Sometimes I feel I want to spend that time with her but am too tired, and then I feel bad for napping! I guess I need to recognize I sometimes need that space to recharge. So, as you say, win-win! πŸ˜‰
